Final Project

This video I created was intended to challenge myself on my skill set and be more focused on video and not so much photography.  I made this video with my close friend, D’Shawn, to show his creativity and process of how he creates his music. The video is essentially a mini documentary displaying D’Shawn in his element and how he enjoys what he does. We started off going throughout the town on a trip to the record store for D’Shawn to grab music he was looking for to use towards his project. When filming I used many different transitions and cuts to give a good perspective on how D’Shawn likes to spark ideas. On the way back from the store D’Shawn collected sounds that he would use later on.

Then after this we went back to his home where he creates his music. As he experimented and played around with sounds, I used clips I took as we were walking when D’Shawn collected sounds as a way to show the parallel of his thinking when getting the sounds to when using the sounds. The framing of the shots as we were in his room were to display the “creating” part of his music in a way that displays all the aspects of the process. The overall vibe of the video was supposed to be very melo and warm. The close up and shaking shots were to flow with the sounds he was creating along with giving a better view on his emotions throughout. The lighting I went with also flowed with the overall aesthetic and vibe of the video. I also revamped the look of his room as much as I could to go with the aesthetic of the music. I put an CTO gel on my light to give a warm light+ modified the light with a soft box to give it a soft quality. I really enjoyed making a BTS video like this and definitely want to create more project’s similar to this.
